Starting School In Early Years

The Foundation Stage curriculum complies with the Early Years Foundation Stage  framework  as  part  of  an  enriched  version  of  the  New  National Curriculum  for  England.  AICS  ensures  that a  stimulating,  caring  and vibrant  environment  is  established  where  children  learn essential  social skills and thrive on the planned learning opportunities, particularly in early reading, writing, mathematics, enquiry and exploration. Our staffs are able to  ensure  that  each individual  is  supported  through  the  Stepping  Stones towards  the  Early  Learning  goals.

Through  deep  focus  on  engagement, motivation, and thinking, our pupils are equipped with all the skills and attitudes they need to succeed in Year 1.

All Early Years children take part in an extensive induction programme prior to starting school. This consists of multiple  opportunities to attend formal afternoon sessions, informal afternoon story time sessions and a morning induction session prior to commencement of the school year.

Engaging In The Primary Curriculum

The school’s primary curriculum complies with English National Programme and is also based on the standards prescribed by the Ministry of Education for Arabic, Islamic Studies, Moral Education and UAE Social Studies, to provide a broad and balanced education for our students. The curriculum is enriched with extended learning opportunities which enhance critical thinking, innovation, parental participation, field visits and cross curricular links with other subjects.

The programme provides ample opportunities to develop creativity, expression and well-being in a variety of ways. We believe education is not just restricted to classrooms. Hence, our sports curriculum is planned and exclusively designed to ensure the holistic development of our students.

We help them develop and enhance skills like agility, speed, strength, endurance, flexibility, control, risk management, balance, etc. Our teachers and trainers are young, dynamic and energetic, possessing great expertise in providing coaching and development for the following activities -Learning outside the classroom is an integral element of education. Through sports and
various other enriching programmes, we strive to give our children the
best of everything.

We ensure that identification of students’ individual and special needs are prompt and accurate to put effective interventions in place swiftly to maximise students’ learning in the school. Programmes of work are discussed for each child and learning is tailored to provide opportunities for their targets to be met.

To help create safer, healthier spaces post COVID-19, LEAMS Education has pursued the International WELL Building Institute’s WELL Health Safety Rating, verifying that The Apple International Community School has implemented evidence-based strategies to help protect the health and safety of our students, parents and community.

Keeping your children safe, health and safety are of prime importance at AICS. The school infrastructure and facilities meet all standards of safety set by the regulatory authorities.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all its pupils. Rigorous procedures are always in place to ensure protection during school hours. The school recognises that all staffs have a full and active part to play in protecting our pupils. The school clinic complies with the policies and guidelines from the Ministry of Health and maintains comprehensive records of all students.

The school has a child protection policy in place of which all staff members are aware and is reinforced meticulously. Each member of the school has a duty to ensure that children are thriving and safe.

The Governing Board And The School Leadership Team

The school is managed by an experienced leadership team supported by the governing body, comprising of a group of experienced, creative individuals from various sector including education, finance and legal with a successful proven track record. The Governing Board provides vital leadership to the school and ensures it is well-run by the management and sustainable outcomes are delivered.

The focus of the governing board is to establish the strategy for the Principal and school management to provide the best education possible for every student at the school. They are linked to key areas of the school improvement plan and monitor their impact.

The school leadership team works along with the Principal to set the strategic direction of the school and to fulfil the school’s vision and expectations. Leaders are selected considering their specialisation and expertise in their respective subjects and their competency in terms of emotional intelligence, flexibility and personnel management.

A key component of their role is to ensure the continued development of students’ progress in their learning.

Parental Engagement/friends Of Aics

The partnership of home and school is critical in shaping how children and young people behave. Research has shown the importance of parental engagement in the success of your child’s education. At AICS, we are committed to ensuring the best for your child, and by working in partnership, we can successfully enrich your child’s journey.

Close communication is at the core of our partnership approach. Keeping parents and guardians informed of their child’s progress is an essential part of what we do. Our Parent Teacher meetings, written reports, Open Classrooms and an “open door” policy ensure that parents can speak with us at any stage. We keep all channels of communication wide open.

From the Friends of AICS, the school selects members of the School Parental Body and the Governing Body to represent the parent community and ensure their involvement in all aspects of the school. Parents, families and members of the local community meet socially, in and out of school to organise events to support the school. Suggestions and new ideas from parents are always welcome for school development.
