Key Stage 1

Key Stage 1 marks an important stage in a child’s early schooling, where strong foundations are built for both learning and personal development. Children are supported to become confident, curious learners who ask questions, explore ideas, and express themselves with growing independence.

Our approach is centred on creating a safe, caring, and inspiring environment. Every child is known, valued, and guided as an individual, and we focus on helping them develop positive attitudes, resilience, and strong relationships alongside academic progress.

In Years 1 and 2, pupils follow the National Curriculum for England, carefully adapted to meet the needs of our school community and aligned with MOE expectations. Learning is planned to be engaging and purposeful, with opportunities for real-life links, creativity, collaboration, and practical skill-building. Across the curriculum, we prioritise communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking—ensuring children not only learn key content but also learn how to learn.

Our aim is to nurture balanced learners who are reflective, responsible, and imaginative—ready to progress confidently into Key Stage 2.
